The first USB Credit Card

Shinhan Card Co. Ltd has offered its customers the first USB type credit card. The innovative credit card enables its users to make a payment transaction by simply introducing the USB stick in the USB port of the computer or notebook. Data are encrypted thanks to its integrated IC chip. The application does not require to key personal ID or pin codes. The USB credit card is as well a contactless payment tool, it can be used in shops featuring the no-touch technology. With this new product, the biggest South Korean credit card company is targeting technology freaks.
Perspective
Credit cards are being transformed. Asian companies are major innovators in associating high technology and credit cards. Few weeks ago, Kookmin Bank has launched the credit card that displays digital content. They are keen on new technologies and are able to adapt them to credit cards. All these innovations need investments and deployement plans to be accepted at a larger scale : Shinhan Card plans to issue the existing plastic credit card, Shinhan Love Card, as well until the IC chip readers become popular among the franchise stores.
