Exclusive women's car insurance

Innovation
According to a new report from Sheila’s Wheels, British women need to cover personal items with comprehensive car insurance.
Indeed, they can leave £129 worth of personal items in their cars. The survey
showed that 60 per cent of women consider their cars as an extension of their
homes, which could account for the 85 per cent of who admitted that there are
a number of things in their cars which belong in the wardrobe. The most common
items being driven around are books, shoes, clothes, children’s toys, and toiletries.
Despite acting as temptation for thieves, the research shows that stray items
in cars can also pose serious dangers for both driver and passengers. Women risk
theft and personal injury by carrying around a heavy load in their cars. It could
cost them a lot without adequate car insurance.

These statistics might result from changes in social habits. It can be explained by the growing after-work culture amongst office workers. It requires women to leave a change of clothes and make-up in their car, ready for 'after work' engagements. In addition to cars, Cheshire Building Society has also found that women are putting themselves at risk by carrying expensive items in their handbags. They carry around £200-£500 of personal items with them every day, such as MP3 players, laptops and mobile phones. Most insurers encourage women to avoid using their cars as a "wardrobe on wheels". However, warning them can't be the only solution. That is why it seems necessary to provide exclusive women’s car insurance policies which offer cover for handbags and personal possessions in the car.![]()
